On August 26, 2021, H.E. Ambassador of Palestine to Ukraine Mr. Hashem Dajani met with Director of the 5th Territorial Department of the MFA of Ukraine Ambassador Mykola Nahornyi. Ambassador Dajani conveyed greeting letters from His Excellency the President of the State of Palestine, Mr. Mahmoud Abbas adressed to His Excellency the President of Ukraine, Mr. Volodymyr Zelenskyy, and from His Excellency the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates of the State of Palestine, Dr. Riyad Al-Maliki adressed to His Excellency the Minister for Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Mr. Dmytro Kuleba on the occasion of the 30th anniversary of the Independence of Ukraine. It is worth noting that Ambassador Dajani took part in all official events organized on this important occasion.
The parties discussed recent political developments in the Middle East region, as well as ways to strengthen friendly relations and cooperation established between the two friendly countries and peoples.
On the occasion of the 20th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Palestine and Ukraine, Ambassador Dajani reaffirmed his appreciation for Ukraine’s firm position in maintaining peace in the Middle East, the principle of the “two-state solution” and the Palestinian people`s right to freedom. He also stressed that such a position is conditioned by Ukraine’s spirit of faith in the values of justice, peace and observance of the norms of international law.
For his part, Mr. Nahornyi emphasized that Ukraine supports the principle of the “two-state solution”, the necessity to return the two parties to the negotiation process, as well as the right of Palestinians to freedom.
In addition, Mr. Nahornyi mentioned the possibility of organizing political consultations between the two countries in the near future, which is why the review of recent events is important.
