Ambassador Hashem Dajani received at the Embassy`s headquarters a delegation on the occasion of the 150th anniversary of Ahatanhel Krymsky`s birth

On September 22, 2021, Ambassador Hashem Dajani received at the Embassy`s headquarters a delegation, ​​which included the Editor-in-chief of the newspaper “Culture and Life” Mr. Yevhen Buket, Acting President of the National University of “Kyiv-Mohyla Academy” Oleksandra Humenna, Chairman of the labour union “Labor Solidarity” Vitalii Makhynko and Head of the author’s team of the scientific anthology “Eastern traditions of state formation” Volodymyr Omelchuk.

The members of the delegation thanked Ambassador Dajani for participating in writing an article on the famous Ukrainian scientist-orientalist Ahatanhel Krymsky on the occasion of the 150th anniversary of his birth. They also donated a number of books, including an exemplar of the scientific anthology containing an article written by the Ambassador, extending their sincerest gratitude to the Ambassador for participating in this outstanding initiative.

The members of the delegation expressed their support for the Palestinian people, their right to self-determination and the establishment of an independent and sovereign state, reaffirming their readiness to continue constructive cooperation and undertake every effort to spread a positive image of Palestine and its people in Ukraine.

Mr. Volodymyr Omelchuk also noted that the Ukrainian society is increasingly interested in historical, political and social issues connected to the Middle East, and this is due to Ukraine’s awareness that this region is promising for establishing strategic relations. This backgroung predetermined development of the Ukrainian scientific infrastructure, including options for studying the Arabic language, conducting scientific research and analytical works on urgent topics related to the Middle East region.

For her part, Ms. Oleksandra Humenna said that the Kyiv-Mohyla Academy launched new faculties and specializations that could be interesting and useful for Palestinian students, such as management in medical and health care fields.

In his turn, the Ambassador told about practices of the Israeli occupation against the Palestinians, which resulted in longlasting human suffering. This requires the intervention of the international community in order to end the historical injustice, to which the Palestinian people are subjected. He also praised the good relations established between the Palestinian and Ukrainian sides in various fields, noting that the Palestinian Diaspora in Ukraine plays an important role in building communication bridges between the two peoples, and its representatives participate in many cultural, scientific and social initiatives that contribute to strengthening friendly relations.
