Ambassador Hashim Al-Dajani received H.E. Luís Capasso, the Ambassador of Portugal to Ukraine, at the Palestinian Embassy in Kyiv.
The meeting, held in a friendly atmosphere, focused on the latest developments in the Palestinian territories, issues of mutual interest, and ways to strengthen bilateral relations between the two friendly countries.
At the outset of the meeting, Ambassador Al-Dajani conveyed the appreciation of the Palestinian leadership for the historic decision of the Portuguese government to recognize the State of Palestine, describing it as a significant step toward achieving justice for the Palestinian people in their right to self-determination and the long-awaited establishment of their independent state.
He also briefed his Portuguese counterpart on the humanitarian catastrophe and suffering caused by the recent Israeli aggression on the Gaza Strip, emphasizing that the only path to ensuring peace and security in the region is to end the Israeli occupation — the root cause of the region’s instability — and to recognize the independent State of Palestine.
For his part, Ambassador Luís Capasso reaffirmed his country’s firm support for the two-state solution as the only viable path to achieving lasting peace in the region, stressing that Portugal will continue to contribute actively to international efforts aimed at realizing this vision.
