On November 2, 2021 Ambassador Hashem Dajani paid a courtesy visit to United Nations Resident Coordinator and Humanitarian Coordinator to Ukraine Ms. Osnat Lubrani. During the meeting the Parties discussed the ongoing suffering of the Palestinian people under Israeli occupation and the importance of the role of the United Nations in supporting the humanitarian situation and promoting peace and security in the Middle East. The Ambassador expressed his regret for the failure of international efforts so far to achieve peace and guarantee the rights of the Palestinian people to freedom and its sovereignty over its Palestinian national territories, despite the intense efforts made by the international community over the past decades. He also stressed that it is important for the international community to bear its responsibilities and hold the occupation authorities accountable for the crimes they committed against the Palestinian people. The Ambassador touched upon the International Day of Solidarity with the Palestinian People which will be commemorated on November 29 and the importance of this occasion for reminding the world of the Palestinian people`s just cause and the necessity of ending the occupation.
In her turn, Ms. Lubrani welcomed the Ambassador and stressed the importance of the efforts and the role of the United Nations and its endeavors in establishing peace, security and stability in the Middle East region in accordance with the relevant UN resolutions, as well as in guaranteeing respect for human rights. She also expressed her hope that peace would prevail in the region in the interest of progress and welfare of its peoples.
