On June 19, Ambassador Hashem Dajani met with Maksym Subkh, Ukraine’s Special Representative for the Middle East and Africa, at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in the capital, Kyiv.
Ambassador Dajani expressed Palestine’s gratitude to Ukraine for supporting the UN General Assembly resolution adopted by an overwhelming majority on June 12, 2025, during the Tenth Emergency Special Session under the title: “Protection of Civilians and Compliance with Legal and Humanitarian Obligations.” He emphasized that Ukraine’s position reflects its strong commitment to the UN Charter and the principles of international law.
He also briefed Subkh on the latest political developments in Palestine, particularly the ongoing Israeli aggression on the Gaza Strip, which has resulted in widespread destruction, a humanitarian catastrophe, and unprecedented suffering ranging from famine to acts of genocide.
Ambassador Dajani stressed the importance of international efforts to compel the Israeli occupation to cease fire and allow the entry of humanitarian aid. The meeting also addressed the situation in the West Bank and Jerusalem, including the daily violence and terrorism by Israeli settlers, repeated military incursions into Palestinian cities, attacks on civilians, the suffering of prisoners in Israeli jails, and the continuation of illegal settlement expansion.
He handed Mr. Subkh a detailed file documenting the consequences of the aggression and the catastrophic humanitarian situation.
For his part, Mr. Subkh expressed deep concern over the deteriorating situation in Gaza, especially the rising number of civilian casualties. He noted that, in an effort to alleviate the suffering of Gaza’s population, Ukraine had provided humanitarian assistance to Palestine in 2024 under President Volodymyr Zelenskyy’s “Grain from Ukraine” initiative. He also underscored the importance of supporting Ukraine’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.
Both sides agreed that the two-state solution—Palestine and Israel living side by side in peace and security—is the only viable path toward achieving comprehensive and lasting peace and stability in the Middle East.
The meeting was also attended by Counselor Dawood Jaloud and Counselor Mykola Radyenko.
