Embassy

Diplomatic relations between Palestine and Ukraine were established in 2001.  By the efforts of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Palestine and Ukraine on October the 15, 2001 the Embassy of Palestine inUkraine was opened and Mr. Walid Zaqout was accredited as Ambassador Extraordinary Plenipotentiary ofPalestine to Ukraine.

Opening of the Embassy was preceded by a serious diplomatic work and a number of bilateral visits by heads of both states.

1996 – President of Ukraine Leonid Kuchma had an official visit to Palestine.

1999 – Palestinian President Yasser Arafat paid an official visit to Ukraine.

2000 – President of Ukraine Leonid Kuchma paid an official visit to Palestine.

2001 – Minister of Foreign Affairs of Palestine, Dr. Nabil Shaath headed the delegation to Ukraine to open a diplomatic mission.

Opening of the Embassy of Palestine in Ukraine encouraged bilateral cooperation between the states.

2007 – President of Ukraine Viktor Yushchenko paid an official visit to Palestine.

2007 – Deputy Minister of Foreign of Ukraine Yuriy Kostenko with a delegation arrived to Palestine.

The primary mission of the Embassy of Palestine in Ukraine is to strengthen Palestinian and Ukrainian diplomatic, political, economic and social ties. At the same time, we make every effort to assist Palestinian students who are studying in Ukraine and the Palestinian Diaspora that resides in this friendly country.
